well, the move is upon me, and i still have no job. i've been slowly packing stuff this last week. man, i've got a lot of stuff, and it's all over the place in my room right now. on the bright side, the guy leaving the suite is giving me his queen-size bed and a small dresser, both of which i really could use.

the main thing that's concerning me about the move is fact that i still need to figure out a way to keep the rest of the house internet enabled (the cable modem is mine and it's going with me)... i guess the other housemates will have to invest in some ethernet cable or something. hopefully in any case i won't be offline for too long while we sort things out.

glah. i never knew that moving from one floor of the house to another would take so freaking long!!! It's been four days, and I'm still not done! Most of my stuff has been packed up and moved downstairs, but there's still some major furniture and appliances that still need to go (that i can't move by myself).

this is why i am ways so hesitant to move. i hate hauling crap around. the only good thing i can say for moving is it makes me throw some crap away.

well, i'm pretty much settled in to the new place.
i still have to bring down a few more things (kitchen table and dishwasher),
and i'm still waiting for the last tenant to remove his food from the
'fridge, but otherwise I'm now in my new home. Went out this weekend to
buy new sheets, and ObusForme pillow (which hopefully will combat my
recurring neck pain), and various kitchen items i can no longer share with
non-existant roommates.  i'm not finished unpacking everything, as i had
a lot more stuff than i thought, and the new place has no storage space.
The good news is that i now have a combined computer workstation/
drawing table, so hopefully that'll help with comic stuff.

yup.
that's pretty much it.

hey, so it's looks like i've found some work, for the next month, at least.
a friend of mine hooked me up with a temp job at his programming firm,
doing administrative work, mainly reconcilliation of spreadsheets and other
files.  I'm not totally sure I'm suited for it, but I figure it's better than
starving.

food is good. and the spreadsheets work shouldn't be too hard i would think. just really monotonous.

yeah, that's what i figure, seeing as how the original office email
my buddy forwarded me was asking the employees if they knew
friends, family or loved ones that needed some temp work, rather
than go through a temp agency. If they're willing to just hire a
"warm body" to do the work, it can't be too difficult.
it might even be easy seeing as how i'm tech-savvy already.

but yeah, it'll likely be monotonous. good thing i have an
aptitude handling repetitive, mechanical work.

well, the temp job is done.
i ran into a few problems at the end (mainly to do with the fact that i hadn't quite
met with expectations of the job and/or i had overlooked something important),
but all in all it was a "good" time. it kinda felt nice to have a reason to wake up in
the morning (even if i disliked the fact i had to wake up so "early").  i saw on their
website that they were looking for a web developer , so i put in an application.
It was a nice place to work, i wouldn't mind continuing to be a part of their team.

but beyond that, i don't have any prospects.
at least this paycheck should keep me going for a couple of months.

what kind of work did you do at your old job? was that in the web development line of work?

my old job? it was basically a reception/security/saleperson at a self-storage facility.
i've never actually had a job in web-development before, however, with all the
experience i have from working on my own site over the years (in addition to
the fact that i was, for a time, in the CompSci faculty), i figured i'd at least have
a passable shot at the position.

better start boning up on CSS, XHTML, and server side languages. it may come in handy.
